Red Forest is a Twine Game based off Little Red Riding Hood, it was made for Susan O'Conner's Game Writing Masterclass. In it, I take a look at how Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf are intertwined, and how dangerous the forest can be for both of them. Play it here!

Red Forest follows Red, a lonely girl, on the way to her grandmother's house. But she's not going there to deliever goods, she's going there to find a way to kill the Big Bad Wolf.

For Red Forest, I wanted to try asking: why did the Wolf hound Red Riding Hood? What kind of twists could I pull? The answer came by examining the relationship between the Wolf, Red, and her Grandma. Wolves, in nature, don't hunt humans unless they're mentally damaged, resulting in a lone wolf.

As for Red herself, what kind person would she be if the wolf had met her more than once?

And why would an elderly woman live in the middle of a forest, alone?

In this game, I tried to have the background colors match the environment, with red matching the forest, black being night, and so on. I hope you enjoy it!

Art by me!

In the game itself, I created branching paths that would allow the player to change the ending of the tale, stay home, or uncover a hidden history between the Wolf and Red.

Using Twine's coding, I managed to create a few twists and turns. With one I'm somewhat proud of in the Stay Home path.

Still, all in all, it was a fun ride! Please give it a look, if given a chance! You can find a Miro board which further explains my thoughts, and branching dialouge, here!
