Damon's Narrative Design Portfolio

I am a creative writer who graduated in 2020 from WSU-V with a BA in English, and I aim to be a narrative designer. Ever since I've graduated, I’ve taken up freelancing, I’ve interviewed with several major studios, have contributed to many projects, from escape room mobile games, visual novels, puzzle rooms, and more! I want to be a writer for a game that has a greater focus on story, preferably in an RPG, such as Dragon Age, Witcher, or God of War 2015.

My previous experience includes narrative design, designing GDDs, concept illustrations, created dialogue, collaboration with the development team, and level layouts for Javelin LTD games, Sanshu Studios, Mechat, and Bell Curve Labs. In addition, I have also taken several narrative design courses for Video Games, from SolCal, as well as the Narrative Department taught by Susan O'Conner, where I learned more about the art of video game writing thanks to her instruction. I have written item descriptions, character barks, item descriptions, lore, history, and articles. I have also created cohesive narratives in various styles, ranging from Screenplays to Prose, interactive and branching narratives, and more. I have participated in Gamejams, and have written games for Twine.

I have worked with smaller studios from around the world, ranging from Singapore, Europe, North America, China, and more. I have worked with Unreal and Unity to create games, Twine to experiment with story paths, and used Miro boards to communicate ideas with other teams.

The one constant in my career has been my passion for writing and design in a collaborative environment where I learn from others and deepen my knowledge of quality content writing. This includes a desire to collaborate with various branches of game design, write character dialogue, accept feedback from multiple sources, and make an engaging story.
